Position Purpose:
Provide managerial and technical oversight to Initial Phase Quality Control Inspection personnel.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
1) Monitors all Quality Control functions conducted in the areas under his/her control.
2) Oversees the Conduct of conformity inspections related to Initial Phase Manufacturing.
3) Supervises all inspection personnel within their area of responsibility.
4) Coordinates scheduling and manpower assignments to aircraft.
5) Actively identify and complete process improvement projects related to achieving improved quality or efficiency within their area of responsibility.
6) Monitors workflow and progress and ensures that standards/expectations are met; assist Coordinators in resolving issues.
7) Coordinates activity with other departments/disciplines.
8) Develops and maintains a FOD free environment.
9) Interprets and executes company policies and procedures.
Additional Functions:
1) Prepares inspection team to meet future requirements through training and employee development activities.
2) Support and promote the operating priorities as identified by the leadership team.
3) Interviews applicants applying for inspection positions.
4) Initiates performance reviews on all assigned employees.
5) Maintains appropriate manpower levels.
6) Strives to meet company diversity goals/objectives through proper hiring, promoting, transferring and compensating practices.
Unique Skills Required:
Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma
Experience/Education Required:
- Operating Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesTraining & Education Requirements:Bachelors degree preferred in related curriculum; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Proficient in computer skills.Thorough knowledge of QC policies, procedures and all related technical data.
- Knowledge of CMP, ASC, CB, ADs and other quality and manufacturing systems preferred.Working knowledge of FAA regulations required.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Experience Requirements:Five (5) years of experience in aircraft industry.Three (3) years of supervisory experience.Problem Resolution Opportunities:Continuously evaluate processes within the workflow and identify opportunities to improve these processes and/or prevent discrepancies and waste.
- Resolve potential conflicts with production and personnel with regard to interpretation of requirements.Communication Skills:Requires the ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written form with superiors and subordinates.
- Requires the ability to speak in front of a large audience.Resource Responsibility:Determine the resource needs of the applicable inspection department and effectively facilitate obtaining and utilizing those resources.Reporting Relationship:Reports to the Senior Manager of Quality Control for Initial Phase Manufacturing
