Skilgroup has a fantastic growth opportunity for a SQL Programmer with our client in Glenview, IL. This position is a direct hire, salaried opportunity in a stable, large-scale global corporation with a competitive benefits package. Our client needs a team member to assist in the design, development, and support of their internal website consisting of many reporting facets throughout the corporation, including marketing, sales, human resources, and inventory. This is a homegrown solution consisting of a 500+ gig SQL Server database serving over 3000 internal and external customers. This role will be responsible for:
- Maintaining the department's website and enhancing it
- Creating batch jobs to load text files into SQL Server
- Fixing any failed batch jobs on a timely basis
- Providing support to end users
- Joining the on-call rotation to fix failed batch jobs during after-business hours
- Gathering and documenting requirements and technical specifications
- Interacting with other IS departments
- Participating in code reviews

Required Skills and Experience:
- Entry to mid level programmer who has worked with .NET websites and MS SQL Server
- 1-2 years experience with ASP.NET websites
- 1-2 years experience with SQL Server 2000: SQL queries (joins, subqueries), stored procedures, and understanding of data normalization rules.
- Experience with MS Access

Not required but strongly preferred:
- Experience with views, triggers, cursors, DTS, and SSIS
- Some DBA experience
- Experience with ASP 3 websites
- Experience with creating Windows Scripts (CMD files, BAT files, etc)
- Experience with Control-M
- Ability to multi-task (example: Doing a combination of phone support, code fixes, building new webpages, and doing code reviews within the same day)
