Genentech is seeking an Assistant/Associate Medical Director to join the Rituxan Hematology team. The successful candidate as primary focus will be on directing post-marketing clinical activities. In addition, an opportunity to conduct later phase clinical development work, as well as business development/in-licensing assessments is envisaged. Responsibilities include: Phase IV/post-marketing studies (investigator sponsored studies, cooperative group studies), medical education, publication planning, education and support of internal staff (e.g. field based medical science liaison group, in-house marketing, clinical, sales teams). The Assistant/Associate Medical Director will have an opportunity to work directly with national and regional hematology/oncology thought leaders and to collaborate with academic and community based medical centers on clinical trials and educational programs. Approximately 20-25% travel should be expected.

Candidates should have an MD degree with previous responsibility for the direct clinical care of patients with NHL, leukemia and other hematologic malignancies. Previous biotechnology/pharmaceutical and clinical trials experience preferred. The candidate must have the willingness to work within a multi-disciplinary team of peers and outside experts. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
